McG to adapt Broadway's 'Spring Awakening'

McG will direct a big-screen adaptation of Spring Awakening

Filmmaker McG is apparently planning a big-screen adaptation of Broadway's famous musical "Spring Awakening," which he will develop with the show's creator Steven Sater. According to the Hollywood Reporter, McG is in talks to direct and produce the project, which is not yet backed by a studio. The central story is set in Germany and follows a group of teens discovering their sexuality.

McG's next big film, "Terminator Salvation" will open May 21, 2009. The director's credits also include "We Are Marshall and the two "Charlie's Angels" flicks. He's also been serving as executive producer on shows like "Chuck" and "Supernatural."
