'Hannah Montana: The Movie' web reviews

Hannah Montana invades the big screen in Peter Chelsom's "Hannah Montana: The Movie," and this time Miley Stewart returns to her hometown to rediscover herself. Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus star, and here's what the Web's critics think:

Cinematical's Nick Schager: "Director Chelsom dutifully pushes tween girl buttons at every turn – some rainbow imagery here, a song about butterflies there – and fans will undoubtedly allow themselves to be manipulated by such maneuvers."

• Katey Rich at Cinema Blend: "Miley Cyrus is growing up fast, along with her diehard fans, and in many ways seems ready to leave behind the cartoony world of Hannah Montana. She spends the movie vacillating between goofy girl and self-possessed young lady, and other girls going through the same transition will hopefully feel a pang of recognition."

• Fred Topel at Canmag: "'Hannah Montana: The Movie' is harmless. It’s contagiously happy so even if you see right through it, which you can, it’s not worth it."

Filmcritic's Sean O'Connell: "Cyrus, of course, is the bridge connecting these seemingly different existences, and it's impressive how comfortable the gifted 16-year-old appears either in a barn or on a stage."

• James Berardinelli at Reelviews: "To the credit of those involved in Hannah Montana: The Movie, the picture achieves what it sets out to do - make a big screen experience for those who adore the TV series."

I'm actually a big fan of Hannah Montana the show, but I'm not so excited about the movie, because from what I've seen from the clips, it doesn't look so good. Of course I must see the movie to find that out. If the film turns out to be bad after all, I will seriously be mad at Disney for destroying such a good tv serie with a movie.

I just returned from seeing" Hannah Montana the Movie " and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I took my young daughter, and the look on her face at different moments of the film was priceless. The theater was sold out so we had to wait until the following show, but it was definately worth the wait. Thank you for bringing us a movie that girls of all ages can enjoy!

I took my daughter to see the Hannah Montana movie and it is really great and really well done. I enjoyed it a lot , as did she, in fact it is one of the best Disney movies I've seen in a long time.
