Cronenberg developing 'Eastern Promises' sequel
I love David Cronenberg's "Eastern Promises." It's a dark, nail-biting thriller with a top-notch cast, and I remember Steven Knight’s haunting script and Cronenberg’s first-class direction really pulled me into this film.
Well, believe it or not, but Cronenberg is currently developing a sequel to "Promises." At least that's what he told the folks at MTV:
“We are moving forward with it,” he said. “We all are excited about the idea of doing a sequel.” As MTV points out, "we" includes lead actor Viggo Mortensen, Knight and even Paul Webster, who produced the first film.
Cronenberg has never been a big fan of sequels. “It’s the first time I’ve ever been in a situation where I actually want to do a sequel to something,” he told MTV.
Cronenberg's credits also include "A History of Violence," "Crash," "The Fly," "Scanners" and "Videodrome."
