Barry Sonnenfeld attached to direct 'Scandal'

Barry Sonnenfeld is attached to direct the Hollywood remake of South Korea's hit movie "Scandal Makers" (Kwasok scandle).

According to Variety, the film centers on a bed-hopping pop singer whose life takes a drastic turn when he finds out he has a daughter and a grandson.

Sonnenfeld told the trade he felt attracted to the project because of the original's examination of universal themes.

Right now, the director is looking for support by a major studio. He also plans to produce the film.

Sonnenfeld's credits include "Men in Black," "Big Trouble" and "Wild Wild West." He most recently directed "RV."

Apparently, "Scandal Makers" was a huge hit in South Korea, grossing about $36 million domestically.
