Tony Scott ready to direct Fox's 'Unstoppable'

Tony Scott sure likes his trains, because the filmmaker is set to direct Fox's upcoming thriller "Unstoppable."

Scott just recently wrapped the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3," about a group of criminals hijacking a New York City subway train.

According to Variety, "Unstoppable" focuses on "an unmanned runaway train that is carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. An engineer and his conductor find themselves in a race against time."

The trade also said Scott is working on the script with Mark Bomback, whose credits include "Race to Witch Mountain." Martin Campbell was originally set to direct "Unstoppable."

Okay, let's take a quick look at Scott's recent flicks. I admit I really enjoyed "Deja Vu," although I can't say the same about "Domino." "Man on Fire" wasn't excatly intriguing either, but I loved "Spy Game."

Scott's "The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3," which stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta, opens June 12, 2009.
