'Marley & Me' kicks 'Watchmen' off throne overseas

"Marley & Me" topped the international box office this weekend with an estimated $14.2 million in ticket sales. The film's total currently stands at $49.3 million.

Dropping to second place was Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," which collected $13.1 million for an overseas total of $49 million. Following at No. 3 with $11.1 million was Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino," which brought its cumulative gross to $47.3 million.

Meanwhile, "Dragonball Evolution" earned $9.6 million in eight territories. The James Wong-directed adaptation will hit U.S. theaters April 8, 2009.

At No. 5, Disney's "Confessions of a Shopaholic" picked up another $6.1 million, bringing its international total to $31.8 million.

Other results from the overseas box office: "The Pink Panther 2" pulled in $2.8 million for a cume of $31.2 million; "The Curious Case of Benjamin" earned $3.9 million; and "Bolt" reached a total of $175.8 million after earning $2.5 million.
