Drew Barrymore in talks to direct 'Eclipse'?

Wait, what? Who? For real?

That was pretty much my initial reaction when I first read Drew Barrymore is one of several candidates currently in the race to direct "Eclipse," the third "Twilight" flick.

According to EW, Summit Entertainment is apparently talking to a bunch of directors already, and that list includes Barrymore.

Just last week, Summit officially announced "Eclipse" will be released in theaters June 10, 2010. "New Moon," the second film in the series, has just started shooting with Chris Weitz at the helm.

Barrymore sounds like quite an odd pick, especially because she just completed her directorial debut, "Whip It!" Both Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke have at least a couple of films under their belt already.

Starring Ellen Page, "Whip It!" follows a teenager who finds a way of dealing with her misery after she discovers a roller derby league in Austin.
