Michel Gondry to direct 'Green Hornet'
Oscar-winning filmmaker Michel Gondry is in talks to direct Columbia Pictures' "The Green Hornet," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Stephen Chow was originally set to direct, but he dropped out last year because of creative differences. Chow, however, is still expected to co-star.
Written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the film follows the adventures of Britt Reid, who inherits his dad's newspaper and fights crime as a masked hero at night.
Rogen will play the titular character, with Chow taking over the role of Hornet's sidekick Kato.
Gondry's directing credits include "Human Nature," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Block Party." He most recently helmed "Be Kind Rewind."
Gondry also won an Academy Award for the original screenplay of "Sunshine."
