Sandra Bullock opts for 'Blindside'

Sandra Bullock is set to star in Alcon Entertainment's upcoming football dramatic comedy "The Blindside."

Variety says the project is based on Michael Lewis' "The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game."

The story follows Michael Oher, who everyone believes is the one of the first players to be picked in the year's NFL draft. As a teenager, Oher was homeless and found shelter with a wealthy family.

The trade says Bullock will play the conservative suburban family's matriarch. 

John Lee Hancock, whose credits include "The Rookie" and "The Alamo," wrote the screenplay and will direct the film.

Bullock, who was last seen in "Premonition," has two projects coming up this year: "The Proposal" and "All About Steve."
