Peña, Dourif, Cobbs board Herzog's 'My Son'

Michael Peña, Brad Dourif and Bill Cobbs have signed on to star in Werner Herzog's upcoming thriller "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done."

Michael Shannon, Willem Dafoe and Chloe Sevigny are already on board of the project, which Eric Bassett is producing. David Lynch serves as executive producer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the plot is "loosely based on the true story of a San Diego man who experiences a series of mystifying events that lead him to brutally murder his own mother with a sword."

Herzog most recently helmed "Encounters at the End of the World." He's also got "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" in post-production.

Peña's acting credits include "Crash" and "World Trade Center." He will also appear in "Observe and Report." As for Dourif, he recently starred in "Humboldt County." He's also part of the cast of "Bad Lieutenant."

Cobbs starred in "The Ultimate Gift" and "Night at the Museum."
