'Avatar' sequel to leave Pandora behind?

Jamea Cameron talks Avatar 2

Is it really too early to talk about an "Avatar" sequel? I don't think so. The movie is making a killing at the worldwide box office currently ($617.3 million), and James Cameron already has ideas for a follow-up.

That's right. Even though he recently said "Avatar" would first have to make a lot of money before he will jump into sequel plans, he also briefly spoke about one idea he has for a potential sequel.

The Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex interviewed the director at a recent screening, where Cameron said one idea he has is to leave Pandora and visit one or more of the planet's moon. Why not?

I know this is not exactly exciting news, but it does sound interesting. I also wonder if we ever get to see Earth in an "Avatar" sequel. Needless to say, Cameron has a unlimited options, that's for sure.

I heard rumors of a possible trilogy if Avatar is a big enough success. However, I don't really like the idea of sequels to Avatar. Sequels are either half-ass, watered down plots just to make an extra couple bucks, or another movie to continue a story left off in the first movie. Avatar doesn't really apply to need a sequel, but I would like to see more of Pandora and what surrounds it. At least James Cameron has experience with sequels, so they counld't really be that bad
