The players: Director: Betty Thomas, Writers: Jon Vitti, Glenn Berger, Jonathan Aibel, Cast: Jason Lee, Zachary Levi, Anjelah Johnson, Wendie Malick, Justin Long
Facts of interest: None!
The plot: The chipmunks go to school and clash with the chipettes. That's all there is to say about this one.
Our thoughts: What can I say? I walked into “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” expecting a terrible sequel to a horrible first film, and that’s exactly what I got: an unnecessary follow-up about three annoying CGI creatures whose shrill voices and lack of brain nearly made my ears (and eyes) bleed.
To be honest, that pretty much sums it up. Fans of the first film will certainly enjoy watching the chipmunks take on a new adventure, but audiences with some working brain cells will certainly realize that this is the kind of film that can have a negative impact on everyone who sees it – even children.
Sure, kids enjoy this stuff and may laugh at all the silly things Alvin and co. are engaging in, but I promise you, it will come back to haunt them one day. Of course, I’m just kidding at this point, but I have to find SOMETHING to write about in this review, so why not have a little fun? Fun is all I need after watching this mess.
Okay then, let’s move to story. This time, Alvin, Simon and Theodore go to school, where life as a chipmunk is not easy. To make things worse, they clash with the chipettes, their female counterparts, who have recently been recruited by evil man Ian (David Cross). Jason Lee is back as Dave, but his appearance is rather brief.

“The Squeakquel” fails on every level, and it’s filled with bad jokes, repetitive action and bad performances. And yes, even the music sucks. Of course, I’m not part of the film’s target audience, but that doesn’t mean it’s a masterpiece. I mean, I adore kids and all, but they pretty much buy anything they see on the big screen.
Anyway, “Alvin 2” is nothing but a dreadful sequel trying to make more money, and I’m sure it will successfully complete that mission. It’s a sad thing these films still get made, but let’s not kid ourselves: that’s the way things work in Hollywood today. Idiocy brings in the big bucks, and it doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon.
Freaky quote: "Hi, I'm Theodore. Hi, I'm Theodore. Hi, I'm Theodore" - Jesse McCartney
The final word: Yes, your kids will like it, and if you want them to have a good time, go see this “Squeakquel.” Like I said above though, a laughing kid doesn’t make it a good film. On the contrary, this is yet another big-screen atrocity filled with stupidity and a lack of intelligence. Just cage these damn CGI things. We don’t need them!

I feel like laughing at this movie 1 star .I know it's gonna be bad movie and New York times was telling that if Avatar fails Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel would be their trump card for the recovery at the box office.I think 20th century should have kept a recovery plan for this one .I think this movie will open between 15 to 25 million not more than that.I think I am going for Avatar again .Glad you gave the review for this movie and I think movie studios should start making good movies and spend time on script instead taking a famous cartoon character and making a non sense movie on it.
Think again Joe because Alvin 2' Beats 'Avatar' at box office on WEDNESDAY it is reported on Deadline Hollywood .Here is the article.

Hey, if some people do not have anything courteous to say, then you should very well not say it at all. This film, nor the producers or workers should not be treated like crap because some people here don't approve of it. If you don't like it, don't watch it! But some people actually like this film, yes, that includes me and many others. I think we are all ecstatic that the twentieth century fox studios and bagdasarian productions have finally come to an aggreement and allowed the threequel to begin producing. It would be a great film for children, including me (and I'm forteen!) to be able to sit down with their family and watch. I don't want to see fifty years of these six pocketsized wonders fly out the window now,not ever! I've even written my own books posted over the Internet to keep my hopes up. Please don't cut out the threequel, I'm begging you!
