Los Angeles film critics name 'Hurt Locker' best film

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association has picked the best of 2009, and the big winner is Kathryn Bigelow's "The Hurt Locker," which won best film of the year. Bigelow was also named best director.
The runner-up for best picture was Jason Retiman's fabulous "Up in the Air." Jeff Bridges won the best actor award for his performance in "Crazy Heart," and Yolande Moreau won best actress for "Seraphine."
Mo'Nique scored the award for best supporting actress in "Precious," and Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor in "Inglourious Basterds." Go Christoph! "Up in the Air" won best screenplay.
Wes Anderson's "Fantastix Mr. Fox" beat "Up" in the animation category, and "Summer Hours" beat "The White Ribbon" as best foreign language film. "Ribbon" won best cinematography for Christian Berger.
Also, Neill Blomkamp took home the new generation award for "District 9," and the sci-fi spectacle also won best production design. "Avatar" was the runner-up. "Crazy Heart" won the best music prize.
