Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen in Phillip Noyce's thriller "Salt," and a first trailer for the upcoming film has debuted online. Check it out after the jump; it's quite action-packed!
Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. Trying to clear her name, Salt embarks on a perilous mission to prove she's loyal to her country.
Also starring is Liev Schreiber, who plays Salt's boss. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays a CIA counter-intelligence officer. Kurt Wimmer wrote the original script, and Brian Helgeland worked on a rewrite.
There are some things I like and dislike in this trailer. It reveals a little too much for my taste, but it also promises a bunch of thrilling action and overall solid performances.
Noyce is someone totally capable of creating lots of tension, and I'm glad he's back in action. I still haven't watched his 2006 flick "Catch a Fire," but I absolutely loved "Rabbit-Proof Fence" and most of his earlier films.
"Salt" will arrive in theaters July 23, 2010. Share your thoughts on this trailer below.
