A brand-new trailer for Werner Herzog's upcoming remake "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" has debuted online, and I'm sold on it at this stage! Check it out after the jump and see for yourself.
"Bad" is a remake of Abel Ferrara’s 1992 "Bad Lieutenant" with Harvey Keitel. Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs while playing fast and loose with the law.
He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive and fearless detective.
Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience.
Look for the film in limited relase this November. Looks good to me right now, and I'm surprised by how awesome Cage looks in this trailer. Let's hope for a solids remake with solid performances...
