Neil Marshall to direct 'Burst 3D' for Lionsgate

Lionsgate today announced it has acquired worldwide distribution rights to "Burst 3D," a 3D horror thriller Neil Marshall will direct and Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures will produce.

The synopsis of the film goes like this: A group of stranded travelers meet during a blizzard and are stalked by a malevolent force that makes people spontaneously combust. Gary Dauberman wrote the script.

Mike Paseornek, Lionsgate President of Motion Picture Production, said, "We are thrilled to be working again with Neil Marshall, a modern master of horror, suspense and action."

Lionsgate is also behind this year's 3D horror flick "My Bloody Valentine 3D," which performed rather well at the box office. Marshall last directed "Doomsday," and his credits include "The Descent" and "Dog Soldiers."

Marshall's next film is an action adventure titled "Centurion." Michael Fassbender, Dominic West and Olga Kurylenko star in the film.
