Adrien Brody, others join 'Predator' reboot

Adrien Brody in The Brothers Bloom

Adrien Brody will be playing the lead character in the Robert Rodriguez-produced "Predators," a reboot of the franchise that kicked off in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the starring role.

The guys at Heat Vision posted a big casting update today, and Alice Braga, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Walt Goggins, Danny Trejo and UFC's Oleg Taktarov have joined the flick. Topher Grace is in talks as well.

Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch penned the script for this new version. The story still sticks to the original movie and follows a bunch of badass fighters hunted by ruthless aliens called Predators.

Heat Vision also has some more details about these folks' roles:

Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.

Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.

Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.

Well, let's hope they don't screw this one up. "Predators" will invade theaters July 9, 2010. Brody ("The Pianist") is just a fantastic actor, and I am dying to see him go all nuts in this sci-fi action spectacle.

BTW, Nimrod Antal, who helmed "Vacancy" and the upcoming "Armored," is on board to direct the reboot. Could be interesting... don't you think?
