This holiday season at the movies is ruined, as Betty Thomas' "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" is set to tear apart the big screen when it opens Dec. 25, 2009. Here's a crappy new trailer for the sequel.

I still don't know how a mess such as "Alvin and the Chipmunks" could bag $217 million domestically, but it did, and here we are again, with the annoying chipmunks creating a mess, playing football and...

...meeting the chipettes. I know it sounds disastrous, and I'm sure it will be. As you can see in the preview below, this one promises nothing but bad CGI and plenty of boredom.

Justin Lee returns as Dave Seville, and Anna Faris, Justin Long, Christina Applegate, Amy Poehler, Jesse McCartney and Matthew Gray Gubler lend their voices to the other lame characters.
