'Gran Torino' web reviews

Clint Eastwood is back with "Gran Torino," a crime drama in which he plays a racist Korean War veteran who develops an unusual relationship with a Hmong immigrant neighbor. I'm excited to see this one this weekend, and so should you. Here's what some online critics have to say about it:

RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "Gran Torino is a simple story that carries more weight than it should thanks to Eastwood. It will be judged based on Eastwood's involvement which may cause some to overlook its flaws and simply lavish praise."

Joblo's Chris Bumbray: "All in all, 'Gran Torino' was a fairly disapointing film, but still well worth seeing if only for another great Eastwood performance."

• Brian Orndorf at Collider: "Unofficially billed as Eastwood's swan song to acting, 'Torino' certainly returns the star to his fist-first roots with extreme satisfaction."

CinemaBlend's Josh Tyler: "This is the Clint Eastwood we all remember in a perfect final performance. He’s riding off into the sunset scowling, snarling, and spitting blood."

Cinematical's Nick Schager: "Eastwood's sunset performance is a thing of recognizable badass gruffness save for the crusty, nasty xenophobic slurs that are imbedded in his speech as deeply as the lines in his face."

This movie will go down in my book as one of the all time best movies I have ever seen. I grew up watching Clint Eastwood in Westerns, Dirty Harry, the every which way you can movies, and I have to say this movie reached out and grabbed me at every emotion and every sense. Truly the first time i have went to a movie in a long time where there were no crying babies, no loud laughing, noone loudly trying to figure out the next line or part. The movie got a thundering applause at the end and Clint Eastwood left everyone baffled with a completely unexpected ending. My only wish is that before Eastwood hangs up his hat that he can some how reignite the fire for westerns either by producing, directing, writing, or yes I would love to see him finish his acting career with one more bad ()&* western. A legend, an icon, immortal these are all words that in my mind describe Clint Eastwood and his Career. Thank you!
