'Bride Wars' web reviews

Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson go to war in Gary Winick's "Bride Wars," a comedy about two best friends who launch into a nasty feud when their wedding dates are accidentally booked on the same date. Let's find out what the Web's critics have to say about this one:

• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "Perhaps the female audience will get attached to the notion of a wedding in general, but doesn't that just feed the stereotype this film is apparently attempting to satire?"

Cinematical's Jeffrey M. Anderson: "This was undoubtedly a movie that was sold by its pitch, and then the characters were shoehorned in afterward."

• Katey Rich at CinemaBlend: "It's hard to know which is more disheartening: the concept behind Bride Wars, or the fact that its female creators and stars seem to somehow think it's empowering."

• Ron Henriques at LatinoReview: "The picture is not just an insult to audiences but to the actors involved who at this point in their careers had the power to say no when the screenplay first landed in their hands."

• Matt Goldberg at Collider: "Hathaway and Hudson are very good and it's their chemistry that gives the film the energy it needs in the first act to keep the movie strong through the second and third acts where these characters you once liked have now been reduced to pitiful shells."
