Kansas City Film Critics Circle pick 'Slumdog'

The Kansas City Film Circle Sunday named Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" the best film of 2008. The Robert Altman Award for Best Director went to Darren Aronofsky for "The Wrestler."

In the best actor category, Mickey Rourke emerged as the winner for "The Wrestler" as well, while Heath Ledger was named best supporting actor for "The Dark Knight."

Meryl Streep won the award for best actress for her role in "Doubt." Penelope Cruz picked up the prize for best supporting actress for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Meanwhile, "The Wrestler" also won best original screenplay for Robert Siegel, while Simon Beaufoy received the award for best adapted screenplay for "Slumdog Millionaire."

Other winners included "Man on Wire," which won best documentary; "WALL-E," which took home the award for best animated film; and "Let the Right One In," which won the award for best foreign language film.

"The Dark Knight" picked up the Vince Koehler Award for Best Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror Film.
