Kline, Holmes, Reilly to star in 'The Extra Man'
Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly have signed on to star in Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini's new comedy "The Extra Man."
Variety describes the plot as follows:
"Kline plays a failed playwright who works as an escort for rich widows on the Upper East Side. He develops a mentor-student relationship with a troubled aspiring playwright (Dano)."
The film is based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, who wrote the screenplay with Springer Berman and Pulcini. The duo's directing credits include "The Nanny Diaries" and the superb "American Splendor."
Kline is just the right guy to play a failed playwright. The actor was last seen in "Definitely, Maybe." As for Dano, he most recently delivered a superb performance in "There Will Be Blood."
Holmes' last film was the crappy "Mad Money," while Reilly was last seen in the mildly funny comedy "Step Brothers."
