Hugh Jackman won't be part of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming Cleopatra musical "Cleo."
Soderbergh was apparently trying to get Jackman to join the project in the role of Cleo's lover Marc Antony, but as Variety reported Thursday, the actor is no longer considering the part.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, however, is still attached to star as the lead character, and the latest in talks to play Antony is Ray Winstone. No deals have been signed though.
As you may have already read, Soderbergh will shoot the rock 'n' roll musical in 3D. Rock band Guided by Voices wrote the music for the film, with James Greer penning the script. The budget is set at $30 million.
Jackman is currently onscreen in "Australia." Besides starring in Gavin Hood's upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," he is also set to host the Academy Awards in February.
