It's done: Warner and Fox settle over 'Watchmen'
"Watchmen" fans... your movie is safe! Yep, Zack Snyder's adaptation of the popular graphic novel is still set for release March 6, 2009.
Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox finally settled their battle over the distribution of the anticipated film, and here is what's going to happen, according to the Hollywood Reporter via a statement:
"Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the deal is said to involve a sizable cash payment to Fox and a percentage of the film's boxoffice grosses; Fox will not be a co-distributor on the film, nor will it co-own the 'Watchmen' property, but it will share in revenue derived from it. The studios released a joint statement last night."
Part of the official statement read:
"Warner Bros. acknowledges that Fox acted in good faith in bringing its claims, which were asserted prior to the start of principal photography. Fox acknowledges that Warner Bros. acted in good faith defending against those claims."
And that's it for now folks. The release of "Watchmen" is safe and we can all attend our screenings on March 6 without worrying. Yay!
