Kieran Culkin joins 'Scott Pilgrim' adaptation

Kieran Culkin has signed on to star in Edgar Wright’s upcoming action comedy “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," based on the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malle.

The film centers on a guy who has to defeat his new girlfriend’s seven ex-boyfriends. “Superbad” star Michael Cera will play titular character Scott Pilgrim, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead will take over the role of his love interest.

HitFix reported Culkin will play Wallace Wells, Pilgrim's responsible gay roomate, with whom he shares a bed (Pilgrim, however, is heterosexual).

Kieran, one of Macaulay's brothers, was last seen in 2002's drama "Igby Goes Down." His latest flick, "Lymelife," is debuting at this year's Sundance. Culkin is also currently filming "Paper Man" for Kieran and Michele Mulroney.

Michael Bacall penned he screenplay for "Pilgrim." Wright most recently directed “Hot Fuzz.”
