Radha Mitchell has joined the cast of Breck Eisner's remake of the 1973 George A. Romero horror flick "The Crazies."

Mitchell's involvement has not been officially announced, but the guys over at ShockTillYouDrop say sources close to the casting can confirm she's on board.

The plot of the film focuses on what happens to people in a small Kansas town hit by a deadly virus that enters the local water supply after a plane crash.

Back in November, Timothy Olyphant signed on to star as the town's sheriff. Mitchell may play his wife.

Ray Wright and Scott Kosar wrote the screenplay for Ouverture Films. Romero will serve as executive producer.

As for Mitchell, she recently starred in "The Children of Huang Shi" and "Henry Poole Is Here." She'll also star in Jonathan Mostow's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Surrogates."
