By now, I'm sure you've all read about the rumors of Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman being considered to play The Riddler and The Penguin in the sequel to Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight." Unfortunately, as far as Hoffman is concerned, none of it is true.
MTV talked to Hoffman today at the Toronto Film Festival, and this is what he had to say: “No one has talked to me about it ever — never.” He went on to say, “It happened, like, five years ago, too. It was a rumor back then and it’s still a rumor. [laughs] It’s just in the press. It’s funny.”
Well, there you have it. Turns out part of Michael Caine's earlier comments are not true. Now the question remains: what about Johnny Depp? I'm sure we'll find out more about that soon enough. In the meantime, click here to read what else Hoffman had to say about not playing The Penguin.
