Randall Wallace to write ‘Pharaoh’

Randall Wallace is a busy man these days. Besides gearing up to direct “Secretariat” for Disney and adapting Steven Pressfield’s novel “Killing Rommel,” the “Braveheart” screenwriter is also set to write “The Last Pharaoh,” according to Variety.

Will Smith will take on the lead role in the film, which focuses on the pharaoh Taharqa and his battle against the Assyrians in ancient Egypt. A director has yet to be announced.

Smith most recently starred in Peter Berg’s action flick “Hancock.” He also recently wrapped principal photography for Gabriele Muccino’s upcoming drama “Seven Pounds.”

Wallace also wrote “Pear Harbor” and directed “The Man in the Iron Mask” and “We Were Soldiers.”

Braveheart was absolutely breathtaking. The storyline and plot was expertly done in all its barbarity and ruthlessness. If this latest move by Wallace with the last Pharaoh is as anything good as Braveheart it will be some story and movie. Perhaps Mel Gibson should direct it. Braveheart was the greatest movie of all time for me. After watching it I felt moved and every time i see the movie again it still has the same effect on me. The music too is sheer beautiful in this film, perhaps the same team can be put together to reconstruct the great ancient Egyptian tale. Before I sign off I would like to announce that I've been working on my own project which I will present as a novel of a tale of worn torn ancient Caledonia with the Roman Empire. Watch this space for Randall Wallace's Braveheart has really inspired me to do this.
