Although nothing is official yet, Michael Caine is currently spilling details on who we may see in the roles of two popular Batman villains in the sequel to Christopher Nolan's ultra-successful "The Dark Knight."
In a recent interview with MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, Caine said Warner Bros. is thinking about casting Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the role of The Penguin. Well how about that?
Here's a snippet of what Caine had to say: "I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’”
Aaaaaaand that's pretty much all we know about it at this stage. Even though none of it is confirmed, I definitely like the idea of Seymour Hoffman playing The Penguin. As for Depp as The Riddler, I don't know yet. I think I have to warm up to that idea first.
Anyway, what do you think about this? Do these seem like great ideas? Or do you think Depp has no business being in a Batman flick? Feel free to sound off below. We'll let you know as soon as we learn more about these interesting casting considerations.
As it turns out, Philip Seymour denies the rumor. Read about it HERE.
