Franck Tabouring It’s confirmed: Brett Ratner is set to develop a big-screen version of the ultra-popular video game “God of War.”
UGO recently ran into the director and asked him about his upcoming projects, which he said included “Playboy,” “Beverly Hills Cop 4” and “God of War.” Yes, it came right out of his mouth.
Here’s an official game description: Unleash the power of the Gods and embark on a merciless quest as Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to destroy Ares, the God of War.
Armed with lethal double chainblades, Kratos must carve through mythology’s darkest creatures— including Medusa, Cyclops, the Hydra and more, while solving intricate puzzles in breathtaking environments.
So, what do you think? Is it solid movie material? Is Ratner really the right guy for this? Feel free to share your comments below.

So, did anyone else think X-Men: The Last Stand was terrible? Brett Ratner took what potential those movies still had to be memorable and squashed it with a big sopping turd for a sequel. Oh yeah, lets take something with a huge fan-base and amazing story... and just turn it into a humiliation. Granted, I'd prefer he direct God of War than Uve Bol, but that doesn't say much. If God of War was made into a movie, who else better to do the job than Zach Snyder? I mean, that's just a no-brainer. 300 was brilliant. It was loyal to the subject matter too, even down to how it looked on the page. Do you think Brett Ratner would do it the same justice? I don't think so. What's next? When will they learn? I guess no one cares as long as it makes money, right? That's the only logical explanation why the development company for God of War would let that happen. Let me just say this: I WAS looking forward to a film adaptation of this game, but now I doubt I'll even bother to rent it when it's out on dvd. Forget it, it's done. There's no going back now. Just like with X-men, no longer can I look forward to anything since corporate goons never worry about what quality is.
By the way, the only way X-Men 3 could have been good is if Wolverine woke up with a hangover at the end and realized the whole thing was just a dream.
