'Eagle Eye' web reviews

D.J. Caruso returns to the big screen with "Eagle Eye," a new action flick starring Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan as a slacker and a mom who are framed as terrorists and forced to participate in a political assassination. I will see the movie here in just a few hours, but I have to admit I am pretty excited at this stage (my review follows later today). For now though, let's see how the film was received online:
• JimmyO at Joblo: "If you are looking for a popcorn movie, this is as good as any. In fact, I’d say it’s better than most. While not always in the realm of reality, the excitement and tension is most definitely a groovy ride."
• Adam Sweeney at FilmSchoolRejects: "'Eagle Eye' will give action fans exactly what they want and should be commended for trying to take a smarter approach to a blockbuster film. However, the difficulty to cross genres and create a cohesive script seems a bit out of reach for the film’s writers."
• RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "'Eagle Eye' is an absurd big-brother techno thriller that tries way too hard and doesn't even take advantage of what boils down to a rather cool plotline."
• Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend: "Eagle Eye has its flaws, but you’re not going to care or notice them. It’s a big, loud, explosive summer thriller which has somehow been stranded in September’s cinematic gutter."
• Cinematical's Peter Martin: "If you're going to make a popcorn movie, by all means embrace the corn and stop trying to pretend that the story has any relevance beyond box office receipts."
• LatinoReview's George Roush: "With the dumb storyline and God awful editing, "Eagle Eye" won't have you fearing technology, it'll have you laughing at it."
Definitely sounds like the film is receiving mixed reviews. What did you think? Entertaining popcorn flick or noth worth the money?
