Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is a machine. I honestly don’t know how he does it, but the man just keeps adding on new projects to an already busy schedule. I mean, he’s pretty much booked through flippin’ 2017!
According to Variety, the man behind “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Hellboy” is now breaking into the novel business, co-writing a vampire trilogy with Chuck Hogan.
The first book is entitled “The Strain” and is expected to hit the market next summer. The trade says the story will revolve around an invasion of New York City by a vampiric virus. The series will trace the roots of the vampiric race back to its Old Testament origins.
Sounds pretty interesting. Maybe del Toro will turn these into a film trilogy one day. For now though, he’s gearing up to direct “The Hobbit.” Also among his future projects are remakes of “Frankenstein” and “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and “Drood.”
As for Chuck Hogan, he’s also the author of “The Prince of Thieves,” which Ben Affleck is set to rewrite and direct for the big screen.
