Television queen Oprah Winfrey is set to voice a character in Walt Disney’s upcoming “The Princess and the Frog,” which marks the studio’s return to traditional animation.
The film is a fairy tale centering on a young princess living in New Orleans during the Jazz Age. According to MTV, Winfrey voices the character of Eudora, the princess’s mother.
Ron Clements and John Musker are directing the flick, which is scheduled for release Dec. 25, 2009.
Winfrey’s big-screen voice-over experience includes “Charlotte’s Web” and “Bee Movie.” She also earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting role in “The Color Purple” in 1985.
