Hopkins to direct ‘Bohemia’ adaptation

Filmmaker Stephen Hopkins is going to Rio to direct romantic comedy “Chasing Bohemia,” according to Variety.

Based on Carmen Michael’s book “ Chasing Bohemia – A Year of Living Recklessly in Rio de Janeiro,” the film follows the author’s experiences and adventures in the city.

Hopkins, whose credits include “Lost in Space” and several “24” episodes, is directing a script by Laura Malin.

Interestingly, Hopkins will produce the film via his Brazil-based production company GreenGo Prods.

“The plan is to partner with existing Brazilian production companies to co-produce projects, film and television, that we bring into the country, and also to build a bridge to sources of co-production financing in the U.S. and Europe,” Hopkins told Variety.

“Bohemia” will head into production next year. We’ll let you know as soon as Hopkins casts the lead actress for the project. Any suggestions?
