'Slumdog Millionaire' scores big win in Toronto

Danny Boyle's drama "Slumdog Millionaire" won the Cadillac People's Choice Award Saturday at the 2008 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Written by Simon Beaufoy, the film tells the story of an impoverished Indian youngster who receives a shot to score big on a local edition of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Boyle's film has been generating plenty of buzz over the past months as critics around the world turned in positive reviews. "Slumdog Millionaire" heads to U.S. theaters Nov. 28, 2008.
