No ‘Guitar Hero’ for Brett Ratner

Over the past months, Brett Ratner has been talking about his wish to direct a movie based on the popular “Guitar Hero” video game, but according to EW, it’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Apparently, the game’s parent company Activision doesn’t dig Ratner’s plan. "I'd really like to do it, but they're not letting me," Ratner told EW. "I expressed my interest, but because it's such a success, it's like now there's no reason to make a movie about it."

Still, Ratner said he’s not giving up. In fact, he’s quite convinced he will be able to get the ball rolling on the project sometime in the near future.

As for the story behind the project, Ratner wants to follow a small-town kid who desires to become famous and gets a shot at it after winning a “Guitar Hero” competition.

At this stage, I’m not quite sure this is such a brilliant idea for a flick. Then again, I’m sure all the millions of fans of the game would love to rush to theaters to get some inspiration and fill Ratner’s pockets.
