Over the past months, Christopher Nolan's awesome "The Dark Knight" has generated $511 million domestically. But that's not enough for the folks over at Warner Bros. Oh no! They want an Oscar.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is planning to rerelease the acclaimed sequel to "Batman Begins" in January 2009, just shortly before the Academy Awards.
At this stage, all we know is that Warner is trying to get the film back onto several IMAX screens, but nobody really knows if they'll also release it at a regular theater near you.
Whatever they decide to do, I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea. As far as I know Warner also plans to release the DVD of "The Dark Knight" sometime in December, which may keep some people from going back to the theater to see it again.
Anyway, "The Dark Knight" was the best flick of this year's summer season, and it definiely deserves some Oscar nominations. Maybe there's even a win or two in it for Batman. I wish him all the best.

This movie is actually still in my local theatre. It's been here for so long, and people are still coming to see it. I agree that it was one of the best movies of the summer. Hopefully the sequel will be as good, even without Heath.
