As the summer season at the movies comes to a close, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” continues its box office dominance overseas, pulling in $19 million in 62 markets to reach a total gross of $416.7 million.

At No. 2, Universal’s musical “Mamma Mia!” delivered another strong international run, collecting $12.1 million and brining its cumulative to $258.3 million. Following in third place was DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda,” which took home $9.1 million and lifted its overseas total to $385 million.

Meanwhile, Peter Berg’s Will Smith vehicle “Hancock” climbed to No. 4, pulling in $8.9 million to reach an international total of $353 million. Pixar’s “WALL-E” and Sony’s “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” tied for fifth place with $7.7 million each.

Here are some other results from this weekend’s overseas box office: “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” scored $7.4 million to reach $40.7 million; “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” snatched $7.3 million; “Wanted” earned $4.2 million; and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” finished with $4.8 million.

Opening in France a week before its U.S. release was Nicholas Cage’s new action thriller “Bangkok Dangerous,” which ended up grossing $1.4 million.
