Although it won’t be on the market until January 2009, Warner Bros. has already acquired the rights to develop a big-screen version of Andrew Gottlieb’s novel “Drink, Play, F@#k,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As you may have guessed already, Gottlieb’s book is a provocative answer to Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-seller “Eat, Pray, Love,” in which she struggles to find peace after going through an unpleasant divorce.
In “Drink,” a man named Bob Sullivan travels to Ireland, Las Vegas and Thailand to find peace after his wife leaves him. Naturally, his experiences turn out to be a whole lot more vulgar than Gilbert’s.
Interesting also is that Gilbert’s book is also in the process of being developed for the big screen. The project is produced by Paramount and may star Julia Roberts in the lead role.
