Walt Disney has acquired the rights to develop a big-screen version of ATI/Planet Lar’s graphic novel “Monster Attack Network,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman, the story takes place on the picturesque Pacific island of Lapuatu, which is populated by giant monsters.

Keeping the beasts in check and dealing with related crises is a team of courageous adventurers, who face their biggest challenge yet when a mysterious industrialist shows up out of nowhere.

The graphic novel debuted in May 2007. Disney describes the project as having a “Men in Black” tone and even plans to turn it into a franchise.

I’m not a big graphic novel fan and really can’t comment on the potential of “Monster Attack Network,” but if you read it and think it rocks, let me know about it. Feel free to comment below.
