Our quick thoughts: If “Disaster Movie” is currently topping one chart, it’s IMDb’s Bottom 100 list. I honestly don’t know what we did wrong to deserve this, but Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer decided to punish us yet again with another one of their stupid spoofs that not many people out there want to see.
Then again, the sad truth is that there are still plenty of people out there getting a kick out of this crap. Anyway, this time the plot centers on a group of idiots struggling to survive as the world comes to an end. In an attempt to save one of their friends, they must fight their way through a series of earthquakes, asteroids and, believe it or not, an awkward encounter with flesh-eating chipmunks.
I’ve seen a whole bunch of horrible flicks so far this year, but “Disaster Movie” is clearly the worst of them all. Boring to death and just as embarrassingly bad as Friedberg and Seltzer’s previous directorial efforts, the film spends the majority of its 90 minutes rehashing scenes from pretty much every recent mainstream production.

“Iron Man,” “Cloverfield,” “Enchanted,” “Juno” and “Jumper” are just a few of the films that receive the regular spoof treatment. And if that were not enough, “Disaster Movie” also ridicules a handful of celebrities, including Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson and even Hannah Montana. Too bad none of the jokes are actually funny.
I don’t know what goes on in the heads of the people agreeing to star in a catastrophe like this, but I simply don’t have any respect for someone who’s voluntarily part of something that’s an insult to my intelligence. Vanessa Minnillo, Kim Kardashian and Matt Lanter… what the heck were you thinking?

The final word: I’m about to loose my patience here, so I’ll wrap this up quickly. You can hate me for saying this, but I feel utterly sorry for those who green-light these projects. I mean, at the end of the day, they’re just as incompetent as the two who wrote and directed this mess. Do yourself a big favor and watch something else this weekend.
