Melissa Rosenberg chats 'Twilight' adaptation

The guys over at ShockTillYouDrop.com recently sat down and chatted with Melissa Rosenberg, who adapted Stephenie Meyer's acclaimed novel "Twilight" for the big screen. In the interview you can read right here, Rosenberg talks about how she ended up with the project and what challenges she encountered during the writing process.

Here is a quick snippet from the interview:

"It was less trimming the fat and more condensing it. There are a lot of conversations that play well obviously in the book, less so on the screen - the sitting and talking scenes, I mean. The essence of it, you distill it down to the essence of those character's emotional arcs and still hit the same points to move the story forward and stay true to the book."
Rosenberg's writing credits also include Anne Fletcher's 2006 surprise hit "Step Up." She also worked as co-executive producer on several episodes of television's "The O.C." and "Dexter."

"Twilight" is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The flick opens nationwide Nov. 21, 2008.

Dear Melissa Rosenberg,
I am trying to contact you to tell you that you should add a small part in for Leah Clearwater, I think it would complete New Moon; and if I might add, I might have the perfect girl for the role too. Her name is Victoria and she is an all blood Native American, she is 17 years old, got long dark brown/black hair and hazel eyes. I am a owner of a small art and drama studio in Ohio, and she attended my classes for both art and drama. During the whole period of time we did our story-boards she was very interested in the Twilight series. After hearing mare about Twilight, I read the books and did alittle research, after looking up the characters I realized that Tori could do the part of Leah. I ooked alittle more research and realized that fans are looking for a fresh face, a new actor and I think Tori is the girl. I hope you consider putting a small part for Leah in the script, I think it would help introduce the character. It could even be as small as her walking in the room and say one line, I just think it would give the charater a intro. Then again my opinion is my opinion and I cant change your mind. But I hope you do consider this and hold auditions for Leah.
Sincerely yours,

Lani
