Back in May we reported that Columbia Pictures acquired the rights to adapt R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps” series, and now the studio has found its screenwriters for the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The deal is not officially sealed yet, but Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are expected to write the script for the big-screen adaptation.

Neal H. Moritz is producing the feature, which could turn into a franchise for Columbia if the audience responses well to the first film.

Stine’s series contains more than 50 books and is sold all over the world. Although the movie will likely pick up plenty of buzz before its release, Moritz apparently wants to cast newcomers in the lead roles, with some supporting roles reserved for popular actors.

Karaszewski and Alexander’s writing credits also include “Ed Wood,” “Man on the Moon” and “Agent Cody Banks.”
