Christopher Mintz-Plasse is in talks to star in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming “Kick-Ass,” an adaptation of Mark Millar’s violent comic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Kick-Ass” centers on a boring high school student who attempts to become a real-life superhero named Kick-Ass but runs into several troubles because of his poor physique.
Mintz-Plasse would star as the aggressive son of a mobster who tries to uncover Kick-Ass’ identity. Also on board the project is Chloe Moretz, who plays an 11-year-old going all ninja on criminals.
The main character remains to be cast, but THR says Vaughn is already in talks with some big-time Hollywood stars.
Most of the major studios refused to develop the project because of the comic’s excessive violence, which is why Vaughn raised the budget for the flick himself.
Vaughn previously directed “Layer Cake” and “Stardust.” Mintz-Plasse made his big-screen debut in “Superbad.” He also stars in David Wain’s upcoming comedy “Role Models.”
Moretz’s acting credits include television’s “Dirty Sexy Money” and “The Eye.”
