Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bobby Moresco has been tapped to write a script about organized crime boss Charlie “Lucky” Luciano, according to Variety.

Producer Joseph Isgro said Moresco is using plenty of interviews and research to write the film, which will in part focus on how Luciano assisted the U.S. government during World War II.

Moresco won an Academy Award for co-writing 2004's acclaimed drama “Crash” with Paul Haggis. He is also currently working on the “Crash” television series, which is scheduled to premiere next year.
