Warner Bros. is set to produce the big-screen adaptation of Wendy and Richard Pini’s cult comic “Elfquest,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rawson Marshall Thurber, director of “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” will write, helm and produce the film.
Created in 1978 “Elfquest” focuses on a tribe of elves who try to co-exist with other fictional species on an Earth-like planet with two moons.
I have never heard of the series before, but apparently the comics target a more mature audience. If you would like to find out more about “Elfquest,” click here to visit the official Web site.

Elfquest has a cult following that rivals Rocky Horror Picture Show status. Anyone who is a true comics collector has either read, owned or waited in line at a convention to meet Wendy and Richard Pini. Wendy's artwork has some anime and manga influence to it, however, she's a true artist, not just a cartoonist. Elfquest is a story that has deeper meanings and morals hidden within the stories and the two writers weave a story that's not only flawless and entertaining, but challenges your beliefs and ability to suspend disbelief. Their fantasy storytelling is as close to perfect as it comes. Many fans like me have waited 20 years+ for the movie to come out and are awaiting justice to be served. AYOOOAH!
I can hardly believe that it is true. I have watched for news of an ElfQuest movie since 1995 and that is after I had been a fan for at least 6 years. I love the artwork and I hope the movie is animated for it doesn't seem possible to find people who could even remotely resemble the characters. If the movie follows the original story line then it will appeal to almost every audience because there are many classic universals used through out. I hope that they don't tame it for younger audiences. ElfQuest is supposed to have a bite to it!! I have complete faith in Wendy and Richard Pini for they have always stuck to their guns to retain the truth of their art. Ayooah, here comes ElfQuest!!
Ever since I have started reading elfquest, my life has changed. I have been obsessed with the news of the movie. To me, it seems time has stopped. Every morning, I wake up and say, "Is the movie out yet?". I beg my friends to read the book. This book rocks! I can't WAIT for the movie to come out!!!
