twilightsequel.jpgAlthough this is all just a big rumor at this point, ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that word about the production of a sequel to Catherine Hardwicke’s upcoming vampire romance “Twilight” has popped up online.

“Twilight” is based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same title and follows a teenage girl (played by Kristen Stewart) who falls in love with a vampire (Robert Pattinson). The flick opens everywhere Dec. 12, 2008.

According to this new rumor, Summit Entertainment is already going after the rights for “New Moon,” Meyer’s sequel to her best seller. The planned release date for the big-screen adaptation would be December 2009.

A trailer for “Twilight” was released a couple of weeks ago, and I have to admit it didn’t really win me over. The concept of this vampire tragedy sounds incredibly sappy to me at this point, although I admit I never read Meyer’s book.

What do you guys think? Would the confirmation of this rumor totally make your day? Or do you rather think “Twilight” is going to stink big time?
