‘Marvin the Martian’ to land on the big screen
Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment will team up to develop a big-screen version of “Looney Tunes” character Marvin the Martian, according to Variety.
Marvin was created by Chuck Jones and made his debut in “Haredevil Hare” in 1948. In several “Looney Tunes” episodes he has tried to destroy Earth, but his plans are consistently interrupted by Bugs Bunny. He also appeared as referee in 1996’s “Space Jam.”
According to the producers, the film will be a mix of live action and CGI. As far as the main story line is concerned, it will follow Marvin as he travels to Earth to destroy Christmas.
Considering the disappointing box office career of 2003’s “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” I’m not so sure it’s a good idea to bring an animated Looney Tune back into the real world on the big screen. Okay, Marvin will be CGI, but still... What do you think?
