Jennifer Lopez has signed on to star in the lead role of Nigel Cole’s upcoming romantic comedy “The Governess,” Variety reported earlier today.
Written by Kevin Wade and Wendy Braff, the film focuses on a professional thief who poses as a nanny to a rich widower’s kids in order to pull of a gigantic heist. She later faces a tough decision when she falls in love with the single father.
Yari Film Group will produce the project, which is expected to head into principal photography this fall.
Nigel Cole previously directed the delicious British hit comedy “Calendar Girls” and the disappointing Ashton Kutcher vehicle “A Lot Like Love.” He recently completed “Five Dollars a Day,” a comedy starring Amanda Peet and Christopher Walken.
Lopez was last seen alongside husband Marc Anthony in “El Cantante.” She’s currently gearing up for “Love and Other Impossible Pursuits,” an indie dramedy written and directed by Don Roos.
Considering Lopez’s recent filmography, it’s about time she scores another hit if she desires to celebrate a comeback. The last decent flick she did was “Shall We Dance,” and that’s was four long years ago.
