I won't be seeing Chris Carter's "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" until tomorrow (review will follow tomorrow evening), but as a diehard fan of the TV series, I have to admit I'm pretty excited about this big-screen reunion of Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). Let's take a quick look at what online critics have to say about this new mystery adventure:
• Joblo's Chris Bumray: "In many ways- this film is like an early, feature length episode from the days before the show became centered around an extremely complicated mythology."
• Scott Gwin at CinemaBlend: "Given the flatness of the plot and the blandness of the characters, I’m left wondering what on earth drew Duchovny and Anderson back for this pointless sequel."
• LatinoReview's Ron Henriques: "There have been some pretty lame episodes of the X-Files, but they pale in comparison to what a lazy piece of writing this film is."
• James Rocchi at Cinematical: "Duchovny, as Mulder, is fairly wasted -- or, rather, not given much room to move in the constraints of the plot."
• Louise Keller at UrbanCinefile: "Writer director Chris Carter knows the X-Files characters back to front and stays true to the essence of the TV series' mystique."
• Bloody-Disgusting's MrDisgusting: "The movie is a mess, a complete mess, and it truly is disappointing."
While some of these reviews don't sound all too good, I'm still eager to see what Carter and co. did with this new flick. Let me know what you think just below.

I saw the movie yesterday and although I think they could have done a lot more to give the film some life, I do like the way they stayed true to the characters while also allowing newcomers to the franchise to understand what was going on. I sure hope it makes enough money to allow for another film.
Also, I was disappointed by the sheer lack of back story involving William when I heard so much hype before it was released. I'd definitely like to know more about him in the future.
DISGUSTING
getwithit 12:32pm: Wake up Chris Carter and stop looking for just a paycheck
getwithit 12:33pm: This was a most disgusting film and I was completely disappointed in the way you left us hanging on until the last agonizing moment never giving us anything
getwithit 12:36pm: come on... are you really going to perpetuate the doubt that there are higher sensory perceptions that humans have? what a low level of consciousness that you are selling on behalf of your masters
getwithit 12:39pm: What was anticipated by most of us in my audience was the presence of star visitors shown to us in a way as to be more than convincing which is the truth... not this garbage of a low level of consciousness of selling organs on the black market. SHAME ON YOU I am thoroughly disgusted.
getwithit 12:40pm: I will make sure that no one I know checks this film out. this is the old paradigm and its dying fast
As yet another true and loyal fan of the X-Files, my anticipation for the new movie was vey high. However upon leaving the theater at the movies's end, I felt unfulfiiled. The plot was not gripping and lacked much needed suspense. Duchovny and Anderson did, as always, an excellent job with Mulder and Scully ( the best reason for watching the film). But the writing and the plot fell flat around them. For female fans it was nice to see the unexpressed love relatainship between the two finally come more out in the open. Another highlight for true fans is the entrance of Skinner near the end of the film when pre-release hype had one to beleive that Mitch Pileggi was not going to be in the film. My biggest worry is that this flim's lack of success may deter the production of any future films.
